Earlier Life

Ian Joseph Somerhalder entered this world on December 8th, 1978 to the proud parents Edna and Robert Somerhalder , born in Covington, Louisiana . Growing up Ian attended a Catholic School and has a brother named Robert and a Sister named Robin. When Ian was 13 years old his parent’s divorced.

The Start of it all Modeling

At the age of 10 Ian’s mother Edna decided to make him a Model all of her friends said that he could do it. Ian started out in Versace, Gucci and Calvin Klein appearing in a lot of print ads.  Ian then took a few years off to be a normal kid before he returned to the fashion world yet again, becoming the face of Guess? . Ian did some touring for modeling until he decided to start acting as well.

The Young American Actor is “Born”

Ian takes acting very seriously and he studied under acting coach acting coach William Esper while living in New York.  Ian did a couple small roles on a few tv shows but got an actual bigger role on Young Americans , it was a short lived drama sadly, 8 episodes on The WB.  Ian then went onto movies his first big role was in Rules of Attraction.

Ian Get’s “Lost”

In 2004 Ian landed a role that he is now most known for in the ABC Hit Series “Lost” as Boone Carlyle. This is what pretty much got Ian’s career going even farther then it already was.  After Lost Ian went on to do more movies like Pulse , The Lost Samaritan , Marco Polo , The Tournament and many others.

Ian takes a bite out of us

In the fall of 2009 Ian took a bite out of us all in “The Vampire Diaries” as bad vampire Damon Salvatore.  A role that will change his life and career forever. The Vampire Diaries is now on it’s Second Season so continue to follow Ian has he develops more on the show character wise and Ian wise in real life.

Ian makes a huge Impact on Fans All Over

Since April of 2010 when the Oil Spill happened in the gulf, Ian became very vocal about the gulf oil spill.  Ian went down to the spill to see it for himself, he gave his voice to PSA’s , he spoke out on Larry King , Ian was not only upset but sad, angry and everything else you can imagine, by all this, and because of his impact on Fans all over Fans decided to make a difference as well , it is amazing how ONE person can set a huge thing in Motion , Vampire Fans Support Gulf Aid has become pretty huge and if it wasn’t for Ian, Vampire Fans would NOT be helping the Gulf. Ian’s has a pretty big heart, he cares for many things , and it makes him an amazing person not only in our eyes but in so many other fans as well.

A few things Ian supports like Charities can be found in this area , he Supports Gulf Aid and The St. Tammany Humane Society , and also be sure to adopt an animal at your local shelter as well, if your considering getting a new dog or cat , consider adopting first, so many animals need homes, and Ian is also really big on this as well!
